In early 2007, RMRP moved to a new, but temporary 8,000-square foot facility in north Fort Collins, a former woodworking shop and bottling plant. This building is adjacent to the 27-acre open space that was purchased in 2005. We have been working with the nation’s top wildlife and nature center designers to create the Rocky Mountain Raptor Center for Avian Conservation, Education, and Research, a 20-acre raptor rehabilitation and wildlife center that will be open to the public. The new facility will be called The Rocky Mountain Raptor Center for Excellence in Avian Conservation, Education and Research. The concept has emerged from the ever-increasing demands that have been placed upon the program. While camped in this temporary facility, the challenge now shifts to the planning, preparation, and funding of the wildlife center. In all of its efforts, RMRP strives to be the leading authority on raptors in the world. RMRP hopes to have the new 20-acre wildlife center open to the public in the next several years.
