8 Baby Barn Owls (one's hiding)As the farmer working for Sherman Farm checked the grain bin before dumping in the first load of this year’s wheat crop, he noticed something unusual...
16 eyes were watching him. Eight immature Common Barn Owls (COBA’s) were safe in their nest area, but now they needed a new home. Officer Devon Young took the call near her Brush, Colorado Division of Wildlife office and was quickly on her way to Anton, Colorado, about 60 miles away. Officer Young caught the eight before heading to Rocky Mountain Raptor Program’s hospital facility in Fort Collins.Luckily, none of the eight were injured, mostly, they are just hungry babies. They’ll learn to fly and hunt here and we hope to release them in September. Because they grow so quickly, they each eat 3 mice per day, about $30 worth each day, and their food tab is growing quickly. Help Us Buy Mice For These Youngsters
