2009 Has Been An Extraordinary Year, Creating A Flurry Of Emotions

The year 2009 has been a watershed year for RMRP. Record admissions, record number of educational programs and a challenKestrel_in_Grassging year financially.

We look back on this year with a flurry of emotions.

Frenzy trying to keep up with admissions, sometimes 9 in one day, and a record total of more than 325
Anguish of treating tragic cases or badly wounded animals
Celebration when a hawk recovers and flies away with determination
Relief when a rescuer and bird finally arrive after a long journey, and when a bird turns a corner in treatment
Sadness when we realized that a bird just cannot survive its injuries
Gratitude at the help and support of so many friends who stand by us when times are tough
Trust among every member of our team that gives each admitted bird a chance to survive
Fear that our best efforts will not be good enough
Surprise when a bird overcomes the odds and eliminates that fear
Anticipation that healing will lead to release and A Second Chance At Freedom
Optimism that we can help most every bird that comes our way
Awe that these creatures never fail to amaze us with their beauty, will and courage
Fear that an animal in critical care may not survive the night
Joy when they do
Disappointment that we can’t save every bird or if one doesn’t do as well as we had hoped
Optimism borne of joy and hope that we can always make a difference
Love – the reason we believe in this amazing cause
