Are you a Colorado Government Employee?

If so, you can easily designate your charitable contribution to RMRP through the Colorado Combined Campaign. Right now, State employees are participating in workplace giving campaigns and making pledges via payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card. Stretching Your Gifts To Save The Earth

RecyclingAs you might imagine, Earth Day is an important day at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. We try our best to follow the 4 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Restore, because it’s good for the earth and it honors your trust in us to be good stewards of your generous giving.

At RMRP, we have always been quite thrifty… OK, cheap. We protect your donated dollars by making them stretch as far as possible. Here are a few ways we do that...

REDUCE

  • Use cloth towels whenever possible
  • Only mow the minimum to encourage wildlife habitat
  • Our ‘solar clothes drying’ system saves electricity
  • We print 2-sided whenever possible

REUSE

  • Use recycled lumber from CSU cages and elsewhere whenever possible
  • All of our office furniture, bookcases, filing cabinets, file folders, and office equipment are reused or have been donated.
  • We frequently used donated stationary and envelopes for mailings (we don't buy the expensive stuff)
  • Partial rolls of paper towels and bath tissue are donated
  • We receive partially used packages of vet wrap, saline and other medical supplies

RECYCLE

  • We compost all our food and other organic waste
  • We turn large donated towels into smaller cleaning rags
  • We recycle our batteries, office paper, plastic, aluminum, cardboard, paper board
  • We use the back sides of unused or outdated flyers, brochures and other printed matter

RESTORE

  • We encourage keeping our property in a natural state to accommodate our urban wildlife
  • We work to make our property and the Environmental Learning Center environmentally friendly
  • We work hard to give raptors A Second Chance At Freedom in the wild

In honor of Earth Day, we felt this is the perfect opportunity to remind us all of the importance of following the 4 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Restore. How many times have we said to ourselves that what we do in our homes can't possibly make a difference for the planet? Well, there are lots of easy, "green" steps that you can take, right in your own home - right now - that make a big difference for your home, your neighborhood and the planet. All that it requires is a slight shift in your thinking - and we promise that you won't feel a thing!
