| Hazards of Living in a Tree |
|
Many orphaned raptors are admitted to RMRP because their nest is inadvertently disturbed when a tree or limb is pruned or removed. Many species often nest, lay eggs and raise young in inside cavities of hollow limbs or trees. Even stick nests can be well camouflaged and go undetected. Fall and early winter months are the safest times of year to trim trees to minimize nest disruption. Whenever possible avoid tree removal in spring and summer, which is prime nesting season. Even the loud activity of tree trimmers can disturb birds in surrounding trees. Always check inside a cavity before beginning cutting activities. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions.Contact information:
