| Without you, where would the raptors go for help? |
|
Thank you for your generosity and support in 2010. If the raptors could thank you, they would. Since they cannot send their thanks, we thank you on their behalf. Watching one of these extraordinary birds being released is incredible. It is their way of saying, “Thanks.” What will your year-end gift mean to us and the birds we serve? It will mean that when someone calls about a sick, injured or orphaned bird, we know that we don't need to hesitate about sending someone to rescue it—we know we can give the bird the care it needs. When a critical case comes in, we KNOW we can help—we can concentrate on doing everything in our power to help that individual. Having the ability to provide necessary medical and surgical therapy allows us the opportunity to give each raptor A Second Chance At Freedom. Seeing a raptor fly back into his natural environment is an awe-inspiring moment. We only can imagine what the raptor feels as his healed wings lift him to new heights and he once again soars above the earth. That moment is for what each of us dedicate our time and efforts.
While RMRP is dedicated to providing the best possible medical care to the raptors that cross our threshold, the organization feels that its educational programs are essential to the future health of our community and the environment. RMRP inspires an appreciation of raptors and the spaces where they live. In 2009, our Education Department presented 130 programs to 51 schools, 16 children’s organizations (such as Boy Scouts, Respite Care, and church youth groups) and 63 various adult and family groups (such as wildlife-interest groups, senior living facilities, and libraries). These programs allow more than 11,000 audience members to gain knowledge about raptors and conservation and to experience the awe of seeing these birds up close. In addition, the staff and volunteers of RMRP are present in booths at events (including the Boulder Creek Festival in Boulder, CO and the Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, CO) for 50 days of the year. The overall attendance at these events is up to several hundred thousand people, resulting in large numbers of attendees seeking out the opportunity to see raptors up close and to talk to our knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Such opportunities allow us to connect with the public and to bring our message of conservation and the importance of our natural environment to the attention of many Coloradoans, as well as out-of-state visitors. Your year-end financial support allows RMRP to provide medical care for the birds and environmental conservation education for the public. We deeply appreciate your support. DONATE NOW!
