Bringing Up Baby.....

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATES BABY RAPTORS, MOTHERS AND FAMILIES!
Spring means babies at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, and we’re “expecting” plenty. When these orphans get bumped from the nest or try to fledge too soon, we return them when we can, but when we can’t, our educational raptors take over as foster parents.
Come celebrate baby season at RMRP on Mother’s Day, May 8, from 11-3. Bring a baby shower gift to help these youngsters survive.

Baby raptors eat A LOT. One baby raptor eats the equivalent of a 120-pound person eating 92 quarter-pound hamburgers EVERY DAY!
Here’s what the babies need (plus - what we need to care for them, and to keep the RMRP running):

baby american kestrel eating a nutritious mouse* Snuggle Safe warming disks (available at pet stores)
* Gift Certificates for Poudre Pet and Feed Supply, or Northern Colorado Feeder’s Supply (for live prey supplies)
* Gift Certificates for Layne Labs (laynelabs.com) to purchase rodents
* Heavy duty kitchen shears
* Unscented laundry detergent and regular bleach
* Trash bags, masking tape
* Paper products:  copy paper, paper towels, toilet paper
* Postage Stamps

The event will be at the program’s main facility at 720 East Vine Drive in Fort Collins. Come for a tour of the raptor treatment facility and check out the many wonderful birds that will be on display.
You can come face-to-face with eagles, owls, hawks and falcons, talk to their volunteer handlers (and find out how to become a volunteer), and learn about where raptors live, what they eat, and why they are a key species in our environment.
Bring your camera! This is a great activity for all ages. See you there!
