Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Carrie grew up exploring the vast wilderness just steps from her back door. An avid outdoorswoman, she has led numerous backpacking expeditions and volunteered on wilderness search-and-rescue missions.
In 2010, Carrie earned her B.A. in Biology from Whitman College, where she researched and published on deep-ocean shark physiology. After moving to Fort Collins, she joined the Larimer Humane Society’s wildlife rehabilitation department, caring for native mammals, reptiles, and non-raptor bird species. In 2012, she was introduced to the wonderful world of raptors through RMRP’s volunteer program and joined the rehabilitation staff in 2014.
Carrie currently serves as RMRP’s Rehabilitation and Research Director, providing strategic leadership and oversight of all rehabilitation and research initiatives. A licensed Rehabilitator in Colorado, she supervises rehabilitation staff, manages the volunteer and internship programs, and oversees patient care and triage. Her work includes leading necropsy efforts, collaborating on research projects, coordinating rescues, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Outside of work, Carrie enjoys mountain biking, running, hiking, skiing, and board games.
