Coyote Ridge Program @ The Cabin, Coyote Ridge Natural Area

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Learn about the amazing raptors that populate Colorado’s Front Range and how we can help conserve them. Enjoy a short hike with a naturalist to explore the flora and fauna at Coyote Ridge. 2 miles round trip, easy. Then, observe live raptors up close with a visit from special guest, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. This program will feature species active in the evening, like owls! Program will meet in the parking lot, hike about 1 mile on a dirt path with rolling hills with a naturalist and then enjoy the Raptor Program around 7:00 pm and then hike back to the parking lot following the program. Accessibility: Program takes place on dirt trails. Mostly easy, slightly uneven terrain with one steep hill each way. There is NO bathroom at the parking lot, only bathroom is one mile down the trail, but is accessible. Anyone in need of transportation to the cabin can contact stroi@fcgov.com for arrangements.

What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them, and a headlamp or flashlight for the walk back.

Where: Reservoir Ridge and Primrose Studio. Program will meet at the Michaud parking lot at 8:00 a.m. Program Description: Join Natural Areas and Rocky Mountain Raptor Program for a hike and live-bird presentation! Hike with a naturalist and learn more about the ecosystem. Hike is roughly 1.5 miles, easy. Then hear from RMRP volunteers and staff as they teach us about the raptors that call the Front Range home. Program Schedule: 8:00 – 8:45 – participant arrival to North parking lot, hike out-and-back with volunteer naturalist 8:45 – 9:00 a.m. – walk down 0.25 miles to Primrose Studio 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. – RMRP presentation 10:00-10:30- questions, walk back to vehicles, and departure

What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast. Bring sunscreen, a hat, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and plenty of water. You may wish to bring binoculars, if you have them.
