Lisa Winta, Assistant Director
“My goal in life is to make a positive difference in the world we live in. The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program allows me to do that with each bird we touch, each child we educate, and each person that gasps in awe when we are out in public.”
Lisa Winta
A Colorado native, Lisa grew up along the Front Range, where easy access to the mountains fostered her lifelong love of nature. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Colorado State University in 1988 and, in 1994, began volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program (RMRP), inspired by her passion for wild things.
Her dedication to all aspects of the Raptor Program quickly grew, and in 1998, she stepped into the role of Public Outreach Coordinator, drawing on both her creative skills and more than a decade of management experience in the service industry. Today, Lisa serves as Gala Director, manages merchandise and the gift shop, oversees the volunteer program, and supports all aspects of RMRP operations.
Beyond her work with raptors, Lisa thrives as an artist and entrepreneur. She owns and operates Talon Enterprises and is a co-owner of the Blue Moose Art Gallery in Fort Collins, where her work has been displayed since 2021. Her artistry spans jewelry design—specializing in wire-wrapped stone pieces and beaded sculptures—to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, and knitting, as well as pine needle basketry. Each piece reflects her passion for Colorado’s wild places and the raptors she works to protect.
