Adoption is a perfect way to help one of our active case or educational raptors.

American Kestrel

What Raptor Care Costs:

  • An injured eagle eats $10 worth of rats every day.
  • Perching material for one cage costs $25.
  • X-rays can run up to $100.
  • Surgery to repair one fracture costs $250.
  • It takes $1,000 to provide lifesaving care for one year, including surgery and follow-up x-rays, antibiotics, and food for one injured eagle or hawk.

Your adoption will help to provide food, medical care, and caging for a releasable bird or one of our Educational Ambassadors. All adoption packages come with benefits and bragging rights.

Releasable Raptors
Rocky Mountain Raptor Program rescues ~300 injured birds every year, providing them with intensive care, food, and proper caging. With 80% of our funding coming from generous donations from the community, we are able to make this possible. By adopting a releasable raptor you can help fund their care so that they may one day get "A Second Chance at Freedom"!

Educational Ambassadors
The Educational Ambassadors are non-releasable raptors who stay with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. These ambassadors were once injured raptors that were rescued and rehabilitated. However, after recovering from their injuries, they were left with a permanent baldeagle02-wdisability that doesn't allow them survive on their own in the wild. These birds have shown a remarkable ability to tolerate being among humans. They now help in various ways, such as serving as role models in a foster parent capacity for young orphan raptors and they aid in educating our community at thousands of schools and public events yearly.

Your adoption of these Educational Ambassadors will provide them with spacious caging, healthy food, and any necessary medical care.

What bragging rights do you get?
As an adoptive “parent,” you supply food, housing, and medical care, helping releasable raptors touch freedom again and giving our Education Ambassadors an excellent quality of life. Adoptions also make great gifts!

The care for a large raptor costs more than that of a smaller raptor. Therefore, our adoption levels are based on size of bird. All levels include the basic adoption package: Certificate of Adoption with a photograph and history of your species, Species Fact Sheet, and Adopt-a-Raptor photo card.

Small Raptor ($50+):  Saw-whet Owl, Sharp-shinned Hawk, American Kestrel, Burrowing Owl, Eastern Screech Owl, Merlin
